I was born in a small village in Northern Italy, and I’ve been a nerd most of my life. My nerdishness fully expressed itself after I first watched Star Wars in 1977. Most likely, though, space travels, heroes, and princesses only found in me a fertile soil in which to grow. A few years later, I went to the University of Padua, about thirty miles from where I lived with my parents. As an avid science fiction reader (I’d read Isaac Asimov’s Foundation trilogy in just a few days when I was fourteen), I chose to major in Math and Physics. At the end of the fabulous eighties, with the (IMHO not so great) SW Prequels still far in the future, I got my PhD in Astronomy. Now, I’ll save you the sorry story of how I worked as a professional astronomer for years, but ended up doing odd jobs (bartender, entertainer in tourist resorts) for a living. It’s almost as depressing as the SW Sequel Episodes.
Anyway, I somehow managed to survive and – more or less – thrive, and now I am a happy Math and Physics teacher in a high school. Also, when I’m not procrastinating, I work on at least two SF and Fantasy novels.
